Living
Tears swelled inside my eyes,
As I looked down upon your
adorable baby face - such joy was mine
as I held my firstborn in my arms
My heart was overcome with joy-
I heard the angels sing!
A treasured moment in time-
I considered not your fate - you were mine.
For a short time - I held my boy
No one could take your place.
As you grew- I wondered at the news
- the earth rejoiced at your grace.
Lepers were cleansed-blind men
they did see!
Dead were raised- the humble praised
the lame he leapt for joy!
It wasn't long - they soon forgot
your humble life you gave -
To set them free - this salvation-
of which they could not see!
Alone you stood before a condemning crowd
who hurled insults and abuse-
Your hand outstretched your solemn word
they nailed you to that cross.
My heart bled for you my son
as they cruelly mocked your noble brow-
Heaven's only king- with thorns so deep
your face - covered in blood.
So marred and mocked- broken heart-
wounded soul - tortured body-
your bones they ached in pain
righteous one -you hung there- all alone
Grief overcame my heart tears clouded my eye's
as you lifted your head - you searched my face-
your lips spoke softly to your friend
" Look after her -your mother."
I leave you now - but I will come again
and soon your heart will sing
Some three days time
triumphant over death and sin-
You rose in Victory for us all!
Then- Oneday for those who wait
we'll meet you in the sky.
