    Description

THIS GREAT PAIL, IN ORIGINAL CONDITION, WITH BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL BLUE  PAINT, WAS ACQUIRED AT AN ESTATE SALE ON NANTUCKET IN THE 1970'S. ( WE HAVE BEEN SELLING OTHER PIECES WE BOUGHT AT THIS SALE, ON EBAY, OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS.)  EDWIN E. TIFFANY WAS A CATTLE RANCHER IN HOP BOTTOM, PENNSYLVANIA IN THE LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURIES. ( SEE: AMERICAN SHORT HORN HERD BOOK, VOLUME 90 CONTAINING PEDIGREES OF ANIMALS CALVED BEFORE APRIL 1, 1916) THE PAIL'S LETTERING IS VERY FADED BUT I THINK THIS IS WHAT CAN BE SEEN :  " ......... RENDERED LARD    PUT UP BY   EDWIN E. TIFFANY   HOP BOTTOM PA"  THE FAMILY WHOSE ESTATE SALE WE ATTENDED WAS NOT A "TIFFANY" FAMILY MEMBER BUT THERE IS A HISTORY OF FAMILIES NAMED "TIFFANY" WHO HAVE LIVED ON NANTUCKET. IN ORIGINAL, AS FOUND, CONDITION: MINOR DENTING AND RUST AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOS. HEIGHT OF THE PAIL IS 8 3/8"; HEIGHT WITH HANDLE UP IS 11 1/2"; DIAMETER OF THE TOP IS 7 3/8" AND THE DIAMETER OF THE BASE IS 6"   (SOME OF THE SEASHELLS THAT WERE IN IT WILL BE INCLUDED)  I ONLY SELL AND SHIP TO CUSTOMERS IN THE CONTINENTAL USA. SHIPPING IS .00 AND IF IT IS LESS I WILL REFUND THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PACKAGE. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!
